We scheduled a trip to our place in Mexico for October 2023. Our internet there was not working and it would take several days to get it serviced. Internet in Puerto Vallarta is unpredictable at any given time and I didn’t want to rely totally on our phones. After research, I decided Solis would be the perfect solution. I went with the Solis Lite and opted for the International Day Plan. Super easy to set up and I initiated the Day Plan during travel for added security at the airport. I was pleasantly surprised that Solis worked so well in our condo. It scans for the best connection since it is able to use different towers. Tech support is prompt and very helpful. Here’s the kicker… four days before our departure date, category 4 Hurricane Lidia made a direct path over Puerto Vallarta. Power was out from that point on. We had charged our phones & power banks, but Solis also works as a power bank! We went into conservation mode to reserve power on our phones but Solis continued to provide wi-fi even after the hurricane. Wow! This proved to be one of the best purchases ever. I can’t say enough great things about Solis. Highly recommend, just get it!
I bought this for our travel to Japan last month. We had serious issues with Sims in Canada and Poland before, so I decided to get this to see if this would help us in Japan. We were hoping to get the 5G since both our phones are on 5G. But we could not find the 5G and the ones we found were very expensive so took a chance on this. I have to say that this blew our minds. The set up was very very easy. The connectivity was super fast, faster than the advertised 3-5 minutes. We got connected while riding the bullet train in Japan within a minute. As for plans, I got the 7-day unlimited pass as well as 10GB data. When we were traveling for the whole day from Tokyo to Kyoto, Hiroshima, Nikko, Osaka, we activated our Day pass, and it was wonderful. To my surprise, there was no disruption at all. The day passes worked out great for us in Japan since everything there is electronic and using wifi – from using google maps, Calling US at from anywhere in Japan (we use iPhone so wi-fi calling is enabled), vending machine payments, looking at menus at restaurant and translating, paying for food, using translator apps, we could use this mighty puck for all of that. For the days we only needed to be out for a few hours, we used the global data plan. We still have data and days left on my plan to be used next time. Very easy to set up everything via the app. The best test that it passed was for us to stand at the Shinkansen station and purchase our tickets for the train that was leaving in 10 minutes. We got to purchase tickets, get our seats, walk down the escalator, and board the train all within 10 minutes. I hope this device continues to serve as it did so far. We will be bringing this to our cruise next month and Canada next year, so Fingers crossed it stays as good as it is now!!!.
This product is amazing. Amazing connectivity for my laptop, phones, and iPad. Also, has a long battery life and the app is easy to use. Highly recommend!
Used it in Europe and it was great, fast and had wifi on the go. But very slow in Central America, took forever to download a video. If all u need is to use maps, it’s great. As for internet in Europe, super fast, other places slower. But still worth it. Best feature is the data doesn’t expire if u don’t use it up. The downside is the product and the data are a little expensive.
I’ve used it in northern California where the connection can be a bit spotty, but it has worked great for Teams calls for work and the price is reasonable ($15/mo for US data).
After much research, I came across the Solis Lite and decided this is the portable router for me (it also works as a power bank). It was a great purchase! It is easy to use, and Solis offers various data plan at reasonable cost. So far, I have had no issues with connectivity. I use while traveling and I have connected my phone, and laptops as well. The size and shape are convenient and the bright orange is attractive.
Living in a tiny home in an old campground with ancient wifi has been like trying to connect to the past instead of the internet. We did the wifi cha-cha, buying boosters, to get a signal from the office to our place. We called local ISPs and they wanted a whopping $4000 for the dance!
There is no 5G in sight, and the LTE and 4G cell towers were playing hide-and-seek with our phones a few miles away. We ended up doing a phone-to-TV casting circus for movies, and let me tell you, the picture was like going back to the beginning of the digital age – dial-up vibes all the way.
Then, we made the big mistake of signing up for a satellite ISP who shall not be named but is known as “we-can’t-really-call-it-internet” for two years. Spoiler alert: it was a total flop! I thought people were exaggerating in reviews and just being drama llamas, but nope, it was as bad, if not worse, than they said. The internet speed was slower than a snail on a coffee break, and when I called for help, they blamed it on peak hours and the signal going to space and back. Their solution was to use the internet between 2 – 4 am. Seriously?
The only thing it was good for was our security system and some fancy home gadgets. That didn’t make up for the crazy bill. I still had to do the internet hustle at the local library. The whole reason we got “we-can’t-really-call-it-internet” was to avoid that!
Then, along came Solis, our hero in shiny internet armor. I tried it for 30 days, and oh boy, setting it up was easier than telling time on a digital clock. The connection speed was like a rocket, and the app was like having a tech wizard in my pocket. Even my mom, who’s 74, bought one and gave it a thumbs up.
Now, this little hotspot not only handles our security cameras and smart gadgets but also races alongside me on my computer. No contract drama means we’re free birds, adjusting our data use when we’re away. So, if you’re stuck in the internet dinosaur age like we were, give Solis a spin. It saved us from our internet misadventures, and I wish it had popped up earlier. It would’ve saved us from pouring money down the drain with “we-can’t-really-call-it-internet.”
I was not looking for the most advanced tech hotspot, but the easiest one to use wherever you go. This device is very easy to set up. You land on foreign soil and you are connected to the local network. No Airport purchase or sim chasing. Does not get easier than that. Worked beautifully in Mexico City. Small enough to carry albeit with a small bulge in you pockets. Came with 1 GB free data. Installed the app to purchase another 1 GB from the pay per GB plan. If you don’t use it, you get to keep it until your next travel. Happy with the purchase. Best to turn it on for a minimum of 5 – 7min before it really gets going. Good purchase.
